Sydney Water Renewable Energy Generation - Operation & Maintenance

Sydney Water's Renewable Energy Generation portfolio consists of a combination of 14 biogas cogeneration engines and hydro-turbines, geographically spread over 10 sites around the Sydney Metropolitan. The total generation as of January 2015 exceeds 7,500 MWh per month.

 

Since December 2013, all operation and maintenance services for this portfolio are exclusively provided by Process Engineering Technologies. For this long-term contract, P.E.T. have engaged Stark Engineering Consulting in a partnership for the provision of expert engineering and management services.

 

In consultation with the client, P.E.T. and Stark EC continuously improve the day-to-day management of the assets in light of an optimised asset lifecycle and overall long-term portfolio performance. Additionally, with most assets having in excess of 50,000 hours of operation, significant project work is being delivered through this contract, including:

• Engine major overhauls

• Engine full- and part replacement

• Hydro turbine remediation works and critical part design optimisation

• Balance of Plant refurbishment and upgrades

 

Sydney Water Renewable Energy Generation - Design & Construction

P.E.T. completed construction and commissioning of two new cogeneration plants (835 kW and 1,056 kW GE Jenbacher gas engines) for Sydney Water in January 2015. Stark Engineering Consulting assisted P.E.T. during this project, through the provision of:

• Detailed design for process, mechanical and controls

• Procurement management of specialised equipment

• Construction work site inspections for the mechanical installation

• Completion of the final commissioning works: completion of sub-system testing, initial start-up and performance testing

 

Sydney Water Networks and Facilities Renewals Project (NFRP)

Sydney Water's NFRP project is a 5-year project for the renewal of strategic Sydney Water assets. P.E.T. has been selected as member of a closed panel of design and construction companies for the delivery of this ambitious project. Stark EC assists P.E.T. with specialist engineering services on a case-by-case basis. This has included:

• Process design services for replacing chemical dosing in treatment plants

• Process and mechanical design services for replacing of rotating equipment such as gas compressors, air blowers, gear-drives, positive displacement pumps.
